A CRY OR A CROWN

LUKE 12: 47-48? And that servant, which knew his lord’s will and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.’’ From Luke 12:47, we have three responsibilities: • Know the will of God • Prepare for it • Do deeds in alignment to it. There are consequences for not discovering, not preparing for or not doing deeds in alignment to the will of God. In verse 48, we see that knowledge brings responsibility but knowledge that you don’t act upon has greater consequences. A man who doesn’t know the will of God still suffers consequences of such ignorance, however little. Imagine somebody who lived on the earth, who was never born-again and did not discover the will of God for his life, he will sti...

THE BIBLE DEVIL IS A DEFEATED DEVIL

LUKE 11:14-21 The devil continues to cheat many believers simply because they don’t study the scriptures and understand the biblical truth about him; the biblical devil is a defeated devil. This truth will help you to walk in victory. After Jesus resurrected, the position of the devil relative to our lives changed- He became defeated. Jesus took the legal claim that the devil had over humanity to exercise dominion from him and now every born-again can exercise that same authority over the devil. He is not who he used to be; he’s now a defeated devil. Our text tells us that the devil cannot cast out devils, what the devil can do is to practice the principle of displacement and replacement. Only Jesus can cast out devils and only in His Name can this be done. Nothing else can do that. Before Jesus came, the devil was referred to as a strong man who (armed with all kinds of lie and deception) kept his goods – human beings, health of the people, their wellbeing and destinies, but when ...

BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE DEVIL

Beloved, rely on the bible for information on the devil, don’t let the old information about the devil or the information that he is spreading about himself affect you. The information from the bible alone gives the true picture. Hebrews 2:14-15speaks of what Jesus has done to the devil. We will look at what the bible tells us about the devil; this will fuel your authority and confidence.  I John 3:8 says, “For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” If Jesus has done that, the devil should not be defeating the believers. Deception built on the ignorance of people is the major key. Many don’t know the truth about the devil and they think he is still powerful.  Luke 9:1 and Luke 10:17 tells us that it is through the name of Jesus you have the authority over the devil. You must know that you can exercise that authority. Likewise, in Luke 10:18-19, Jesus referred to every born-again person that they have authority over the d...

Develop and sustain intimacy with God- Mark 3:13-15; Psalm 27:4-6

Bible in a year:  Neh. 11:1-12:26, 1 Cor. 10:14-11:2, Psalm 34:11-22, Prov. 21:14-16 The first thing God called us to, as believers, is to intimacy with Himself. Intimacy with God is a non-negotiable issue in our lives that threatens the devil. The proof of intimacy with God is brokenness. How broken you are reveals your intimacy with God. Intimacy is what you get by entering into consistent and continuous fellowship with God. Benefits of Intimacy with God are as follows: Accuracy: Your accuracy in life and work is an outflow of your intimacy with God. Impregnation: God impregnates you with visions and answers for your day and generation. Resemblance: Who you get intimate with is who you will resemble. Divine secrets (Job 29: 2-4): Intimacy with God opens his secrets to you. Promotion (Psa. 37:4-5): Promotion comes when you get intimate with God. Promotion without intimacy is a snare. Power: Intimacy with the powerful makes you powerful. Revelations: God reve...

DEVELOP A SENSE OF DIVINE DESTINY (1)

HEB. 12:1-2, 1COR. 9:24-27 There are a lot of people today that are dabbling into the work of ministry in the kingdom of God while many Christians on the other hand think they are just in church to warm benches or increase the number, no, you are there to be trained in church and to go to the world to fulfill your ministry. Effects of having a sense of divine destiny: 1. It will cause you to govern yourself in order to fulfill that destiny - 1Cor.9:24-25. The sense of destiny brings to bear on your physical life, a control that you can’t just do anything. It may not be sinful, but it is not necessary, it’s not edifying, it’s not expedient, it’s not going to contribute to your fulfillment of destiny. A sense of destiny brings discipline to your life. Joseph went through the basics; that was why God took him through all that he went through in life. He was acquiring the basics in the face of his troubles, so when he became the prime minister, he didn’t fall through pride or any...

MICROWAVE CHRISTIANITY – Wednesday May 10th 2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye MICROWAVE CHRISTIANITY – Wednesday May 10th 2017 📖  Memorise: And we desire that every one of you shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: Hebrews 6:11 📖   📖  Read: Hebrews 6:1-3 Bible in one year: Deuteronomy 11-12, Jeremiah 29:1-14 ♬ Hymn: Sing hymn 6 ♬ In the midst of delay, man often comes up with alternatives to God’s original plan or purpose. This is a dangerous thing to do because man’s alternative charts a new course, which can completely take the individual concerned out of God’s original plan. Also, any such alternative is usually nothing more than just a quick fix compared to God’s permanent solution. Speaking to quick fixes, the age we live in encourages that. We live in an age of instant gratification. Most people are no longer interested in any type of process; whatever they want, they want it now! This is what I term the “Microwave Mentality”. People are so much in a ...

KINGDOM FINANCIAL GOALS

KINGDOM FINANCIAL GOALS - DEUTERONOMY 8:18   The kingdom is God’s way of doing things and if you are a member in the kingdom, the plan of God is for you to be a leader in the world and this includes your finances as well. There are certain financial goals every son and daughter of the kingdom should aspire towards to take a front seat in determining your financial future. Goal 1: Financial Freedom Your first goal is financial freedom where you are free from debt. To get there, you must first come out of debt. Work towards Financial freedom; freedom from debt and freedom from curses. Goal 2: Financial Independence In financial independence, you are in control of your own destiny financially, you don’t depend on your monthly salary to survive and you have finances coming from other sources. If you haven’t attained financial independence and if you are depending on your salary to survive, you are only operating in financial freedom because you are not in ...

Ask what I shall do for thee (2)

1 Samuel 2: 11, 18, 21 & 26; 2 Samuel 3:1, 19 Bible in a year: Jeremiah 26:1-27:22, 2 Thessalonians 3:1-18, Psalm 85:1-13, Proverbs 25:16 If you look at the passages above well, you will see some progressions in the life of Samuel the prophet as he was coming up in the thing of God. He started out by ministering unto the Lord. The Lord alone was his pursuit and desire. His commitment to the Lord while serving in the temple was what kept him from the pollution of the sons of Eli. Like Gehazi (2 Kings 5) they have allowed the devil to open their eyes to the privileges of the ministry but not so for Samuel. In Chapter 2 verse 11, the Bible says he ministered unto the Lord and as it were, nothing came out of it. But in verse 18 while he continued ministering to the Lord, a linen ephod was added. Do you know he did not allow the linen ephod to stop him just as the loss of the coat of many colours could not stop Joseph. By verse 21 and 26 he was growing up spiritually, develop...

Ask what I shall do for thee (1): 2 kings 2:1-15

Bible in a year: Jeremiah 23:21-25:38, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17, Psalm 84:1-12, Proverbs 25:15 From the passage above, you will see that Elijah asked Elisha for the real reason why he was following him. He asked Elisha to say exactly what he actually wanted from following hard after the anointing. Elisha made it clear that what he needed was the instrument of his destiny – the double portion of the anointing. And until he got it, nothing that the devil brought on his way could stop or distract him. One major factor that will determine how far every Christian will go in the Lord and in the things of God is what their real pursuit is as they follow the Lord. Everyone who is following the Lord is doing so because of something. You may be following the Lord because of material things, you may be following Him for the anointing you want to receive from Him or you may follow Him because you want Him and nothing but Him. If there is any other motivation other than you wanting to be like ...

IF CHRIST IS NOT RISEN

“And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.” (1 Corinthians 15:14 NKJV) In a swift and decisive move to forestall Jesus’ resurrection, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered to Pilate, requesting that Jesus’ tomb be made secure until the third day, for they were afraid of the great impact the news of Jesus’ resurrection would have on the people. How mistaken they were! For it is impossible for death to hold Jesus, the Prince of life, the Lord of lords and the King of kings. Hallelujah! Having received the permission from Pilate, the religious leaders made Jesus’ tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard – many soldiers to watch the tomb. But, when the set time came for the Prince of life and the King of glory to rise from the dead, having accomplished His mission to the dead; the earth shook and the guards watching the tomb shook for fear and became like dead men. The stone against the tomb was rolled away and the pan...

The Supernatural Church Will Display God’s Glory Through Signs, Wonders and Miracles

Do you believe miracles still occur? For many Christians, the answer to that question is a decided, “No.” These well-meaning believers have accepted the enemy’s lie that signs and wonders ended with the apostles. They have read the Bible and convinced themselves that they couldn’t possibly have a supernatural experience in this day and age. They have discounted that God, in all His glory, is still a miracle-working God. Thankfully, not only  can  God still work miracles through the Body of Christ, but He desires to. Why Does God Desire to Work Miracles? God  is  supernatural. He is still the same God who created the heavens and the earth out of nothing but His words. He is still the same God who breathed life into man and fashioned woman out of man. He is the still the same God who parted the Red Sea and brought the Israelites out of Egypt. He is still the same God who sent His Son to die for all the sins of mankind. He is still the same God who rais...

RULED BY MAMMON? – Monday April 17th 2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor  E . A. Adeboye Memorise: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 Read: 1 Timothy 6:6-11 Bible in one year: Numbers 4, Jeremiah 15:1-9 ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 9 ♬ A crafty and complex form of idolatry in our world today, which has been around for a long while, and yet seems to go unnoticed by most people, is the reverence and premium place given to the god of money (Mammon) in the hearts of mankind. Our Lord Jesus was very clear when He started what the first and greatest commandment was in Matthew 22:36: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” When our love, which should be given to God exclusively, is diverted to money, we err from the faith and expose ourselves to dissatisfaction and many sorrows. The Bible in Ecclesiaste...

AND HE SPENT ALL – Saturday April 15th 2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye Memorise: There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. Proverbs 11:24 Read: Luck 15:11-14 Bible in one year: Numbers 1-2, Jeremiah 14:1-12 ■ ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 10 ♬ Many people do not know that the act of giving has principles that must be followed in order to get rewarded for it by God. Due to their ignorance, such people have become discouraged from giving because they had given in times past without getting the results which they rightfully expected. The truth of the matter is: giving has principles, and unless you follow these principles, you will have no result for your giving. For example, if you sow your corn or wheat on the sea, you will definitely get nothing. Therefore, we must learn the principles of giving in order to have the desired results for our giving. God will never owe any man; He gave us His word of assurance on this in Heavens 6:10...

CHANGE YOUR WAYS – Friday April 14th 2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor   E . A. Adeboye Memorise: Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: Matthew 3:8 Read: Acts 3:13-19 Bible in one year: Leviticus 26-27, Jeremiah 13:15-27 ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 11 ♫ Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, hypocrisy has been a character trait of mankind. For this reason, God has continuously reached out to man with message of living a changed life. The Mosaic Law was all about making the Israelites live a life that was different from that of all the other nations around them, a life of change which confronts to God’s expectations. At different points in time, when they erred from the Mosaic Law, God still sent prophets to them with the message of change. One of such prophets was Ezekiel. Speaking through him, the Lord demanded that His people repent and change from their hypocritical ways (Ezekiel 14:6). The Lord also spoke through Prophet Ezekiel about the change of life He would bring about by the regeneratio...

I WILL PAY YOU YOUR WAGES – Thursday April 13th 2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor   E . A. Adeboye Memorise: Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3 Read: Exodus 2:1-9 Bible in one year: Leviticus 25, Jeremiah 13:1-14 ♧ ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 16 ♫ Many people who are blessed with the gift of children are not conscious of the fact that children are the heritage of the Lord, meaning that God is their rightful owner, and they are gifts from Him. This is why and adage from my village says “Rich people cannot find children to buy in the market.” What money cannot buy can only be obtained from the Almighty God. What then should be the attitude of parents to these priceless gifts? The answer can be seen in the story of the birth, adoption and upbringing of Moses, the child who later become the mouthpiece of the Almighty God. Moses was born at a time when Pharaoh had commanded that every newborn male child should be immediately killed. His mother tried to hide him for three...

DIVINE VISITATION I – Tuesday April 11th 2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor  E . A. Adeboye Memorise: And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. Genesis 21:1 Read: Genesis 18:1-10 Bible in one year: Leviticus 21-22, Jeremiah 11:9-23 ⊙ ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 10 ♫ Our God is a benevolent God; He visits an individual, He does not come empty-handed. If you are privileged to receive a visitation from Him, you can be sure you are in for pleasant surprises. My prayer for you is that God in His infinite mercy will visit you today in Jesus’ Name. When Abraham entertained three strange men in his tent, little did he know that they were messengers of the benevolent God. Take a closer look at all the effort Abraham put in just to entertain visitors he could ordinarily have regarded as casual passers-by.Genesis 18:6-7 says, “And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measure of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. And Abraham r...

DIVINE VISITATION II –Wednesday April 12th2017

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor  E . A. Adeboye Memorise: Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people. Luke 1:68 Read: Jeremiah 29:10-11 Bible in one year: Leviticus 23-24, Jeremiah 12 ⊙ ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 11 ♫ “And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.” Luke 7:14-16 The account of events in the above passage of Scripture is indicative of what a divine visitation looks like. Divine visitation with its attendant supernatural occurrences brings joy to the heart of those visited. I pray that God will visit you today and your joy shall be full in Jesus’ Name. In our Bible text today, Prophet Jeremiah gave a revelation concerning the fu...

A REASONABLE SERVICE (1)

God is not a cruel taskmaster but a gentle and loving Father. Although God is a sovereign or supreme ruler, yet at the moment He forces no one to worship, serve, obey or submit to Him. But, at the close of the ages God will punish and crush every rebellion against His rule or Word. “For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God." (Rom. 14:11 NKJV). “Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.” (1 Cor. 15:24 NKJV). God does not want you to love, obey, serve or worship Him impulsively, forcefully, or grudgingly. It is unprofitable for you to serve God without joy and gladness of heart (Deut. 28:47-48). Having been redeemed from the slavery of Sin and Satan through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, it is only reasonable or sensible to devote yourself to God’s service. Any believer in Christ who continues to live for ...

Matthew 17:21 Read: 1 Samuel 1:9-11 Bible in one year: Leviticus 14, Jeremiah 8:18-9:11 ■ ♫ Hymn: Sing hymn 6 ♫ Most good things in life come at a cost. Many Children of God may find it hard to accept this truth, but doesn’t change its reality. The reason why some children of God may not want to accept this reality of life is that our salvation is freely given to us. They would reason that since the precious salvation of our souls is free, other precious things of the kingdom should also be without a cost. They forget that although salvation is free for us, it came at the expense of the precious Blood of Jesus, shed through His gruesome death on the cross. The fact that it is given to us for free does not mean it was freely acquired by the Giver. Just as a child should not think the bread he is eating freely f...
